Spring is the best time to refresh your devotional life and to get on the right track with your spiritual growth with Christ. Why? The weather is becoming warmer and the season is changing. It also the time when things are about to slow down and there can be less distractions. It’s also a time to reflect on your spiritual walk with God. Here are some 3 steps on living a healthy devotional life. It is my prayer that you will experience God in a new way for a new season.
1 . Focus and Discipline
Most of the years in my life I discovered having a successful devotional life requires focus and discipline. I realized that my focus and discipline had to become a lifestyle. One of the things I will suggest having a focus and discipline life is setting a set schedule. I can remember one of the best times for my private devotional time was in the mornings. I will suggest find a great time for you to read daily devotional book and spend time with God. Find the time work bests in your schedule and stay consistent.
Scripture:
Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things
Colossians 3:2 NIV
2 Memorizing Key Words and Scriptures
Memorizing the key words and scriptures will help you memorize the topic and the daily devotional reading. This helps you to apply the main point that you are reading in the devotional book. Also if the devotional book has scriptures you can also memorize your favorite passage from the devotional reading. If you can quote your favorite song or movie you can remember your favorite devotional key pint and scripture. Memorization daily quotes and scriptures is a key essential of growing deeper in your spiritual growth.
Scripture:
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.
Psalm 1:2 NIV
3.Expect to Change.
Spending time in daily devotional allows you to have time with God. If you are expecting to change you must have a solid and daily devotional reading plan, spend time with God in prayer and worship. God will reveal to you something you need to change when you are spending time with him in your daily devotions.
Scripture: Teach me knowledge and good judgement, for I trust your commands Psalm 119:66 NIV
I hope these 3 steps helps you of Living a Healthy Devotional Life
