A New You for the New Year

Happy New Year!  What a great time to start the new year with a fresh start and a new perspective for the year.  This year think about what you would like to accomplish and write down some short- term goals for yourself.  A beautiful thing about the new year is it brings a fresh start.

I love the scripture: Isaiah 43:19 Behold I do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wildness, and rivers in the dessert.

Take this opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and start the process towards accomplishing the goals you want in becoming a better version of yourself. I would like to give you some practical tips and ideas to help you on your journey of becoming a new woman for the new year.

Evaluate Your Failures for Better Improvement

You don’t want to go into a new year the same way you left the last year. One way to change is by evaluating your thought process. When we evaluate our mistakes or things we did wrong it allows us to reflect on what we can improve upon as an individual. Sometimes coming out of past failures from the previous year can hinder you from improving or moving forward; however, take this time to evaluate what you could do better for the upcoming year, so you won’t repeat the same mistakes.  Evaluating your past failures will help you become a better individual in your new.

Set Short Term Goals and Stick with Them

When we set goals for ourselves it keeps us accountable in accomplishing them. Make sure when writing down goals for the new year that you keep it simple and straight to the point. This will help you stay on task and accomplish it faster. Short- term goals keep you focused and allows you to do achieve your goal at a quicker pace.  You don’t want to make goals for yourself that you can not keep. Writing down your goals in a journal or creating a vision board are just a couple of ways to stay on track. Creating a vision board helps you visualize that goal and makes you accountable to it. The scripture says:

Habakkuk 2:2New International Version (NIV)

“Write down the revelation

and make it plain on tablets

so that a herald[a] may run with it.

When we write the vision, we can stay on task on the goal and be accountable.

Focus on the Process

When we remain focus on the process we put our mind to it and achieve it. Don’t be that person that just writes down your goals and look at them. It’s easy to be full of enthusiasm at the beginning of the year but you must stick to whatever goals you want to achieve for the whole year. So, focus on the process itself, and develop greater commitment to achieve it. For example, if you are thinking about saving more money and perhaps putting it into a savings account then you’ll want to spend less money on items not in your budget. By doing this it will teach you discipline, help you remain focused on the process and ultimately become more successful in achieving your goal for the rest of the year.  Persistence and remaining focused and pays off along way. So, this year stay focused on the process of the goal you want to see accomplished. You can do this.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

So, everything that you do this new year just remember you can do anything if put your mind to it.

Remember to stay focused on the goal, achieve it to succeed and make improvements for becoming a better you for this year.
